Defining Me

In class I am the only girl who is black

I take honors and aps so it is rare

to see someone of my ethicity in the same class.

White boys called me many names

like negro, nigger, and coon.

I didn't let it bother me,

for I was flawless in academics more than them.

My goal is to encourage my fellow black schoolmates

to push harder in school

because they may end up like me

being one of few most successful black girls in school.
