Definition of Our Love

We've both been told love is a feeling,

A passionate, whirlwind of emotions that takes control as you fall in love,

But if this holds truth, then how is love so easily taken from one and given to another?

One moment she loves a man, and the next year she gives her love to another.

Our love is defined differently:

Our love means always discussing and working things out,

Our love means sleepless nights by the other's side during sickness,

Our love is not based off the perfection of our partner,

We are both beautifully flawed humans and we find strength in our weakness,

Our love means that when we fall, we pick each other up,

Our love is built on the trust we place in each other and the honesty we share between us,

Our love is always treating the other better than we treat our self,

It is sacrificing things that we want to make the other happy,

It remains within us even when we're angry with each other,

Because we've decided to stick by each other,

To be each other's best friend and appretiate each other every single day.

We we aren't gauranteed that we will both live until the next day,

Our arguments could never hurt as much as the regret of not cherishing each moment together,

So my love for you ever grows,

Not because the fire of our passion is fueled by feelings,

It's something we have to work at,

The small actions, the smiles, listening to each other, sweet hugs on a bad day.... just caring.

Our love will be tried when we have disagreements,

When our views clash and the storm clouds build,

We've been through too much together to be pulled a part.

We make each other's lives better just by being together,

We inspire each other to become better people,

By our kindness towards each other and those around us.

We have promised to stick by each other until we die,

The hardships we face pull us together,

As partners we will face life side-by-side,

Our love is more than just a feeling,

It's sacrifice, compassion, kindness, and loving even in messy moments,

Loving each other until we are no more.
