dejection and isolation

It’s an empty pit where my stomach should be

blurs my vision, streaks of light passing my gaze

i wonder if the night sky sees me

laying awake back against the cold sheets

the stars twinkle in and out of existence with each ragged breath

i steal from them, making constellations instead on my eyelashes

down my cheeks

evaporating into nothingness

it taunts me

with its vast blackness

that even when the sun shines within it, the sky stays black

why

I feel light waiting to spring and burst forth from inside me

but the pit gets darker and the vastness seems to grow

it taunts me with its truth

daytime only exists on the face of a planet

and just so

i needed a face in the darkness to shine on

who doesn’t reject my void

instead embracing the darkness, letting it embody them

and only then could my sun blaze

on the people who could see my sunshine

but while I drifted along in the empty abyss

you packed up your telescope

left the constellations to dance alone

I suppose the sun burned out when you stopped looking

with no-one to see it, would the sun really shine?
