Delicate

She ripped the paper clean in half. A crisp, splitting sound flooded the room. For just a second, all was still Until time continued to turn and cycles were restored-- For everyone except for her. Tears dripped down her soft, young cheeks As she drowned in regret. Reality sank in the deepest part of her chest And she closed her eyes. She went home that night, Lay down, And slept The longest sleep she would ever sleep.
