Delusional Memories

Who was I
Before society
Told me
Who I should be?
Was that when
The girl
In the picture
Matched the girl
In the mirror?

Now,
My fraternal twin
Helplessly smiles
While somehow managing
To look
Far from helpless.
Dazed in a
Delusional memory
Where the colors
Don't seem to
Add up.
The sky oozes blue
Grass vibrant green;
Filters don't show
Drought.
Minds thirsting for
Constant appraisal
Congratulating myself
Upon reaching
183 likes.

But,
My mascara streaks
In a trail of tears
Easily edited out.
Sobbing because
I'm attempting
To please
Half an audience
I don't know
The other half
Doesn't even care.

Believing I needed
A change,
I decided
To please myself.
For once,
Posting a pic
Showcasing
Every scar
Both
Mentally
And
Physically.

The caption screaming
How I dreamed
Crooked teeth
Went unnoticed
By the fact that
People were happy
Just to see me
Smile.
Begging,
That someday
Everyone would realize
The skies in
Our pictures
Don't match the sky
In our world.
