Demagnitized

A glance A knowing, longing trance Say more than every word I've heard In two years A summer romance that never breathed life Just a gaze That I craved Would turn my soul inside out I sit with a thumping magnet in my chest That I refuse to let turn north Even if it already has As long as I don't look I will find the stronger magnetic field Soft eyes, strong voice, stronger conscience Unlock a chain that I just found Was binding me, around my arteries An unexpected, untouchable key And yet, A magnet falls on the kitchen tile without a sound
