Demean

Demean me. Demean us.

Why not? Who will fuss?

Not me. Not he.

Perhaps them? We shall see.

Yes, we shall see, their emotions betray

Just like us, when we go astray

You hate us, for years, you shout

Where was I? Was I drifting? If so, I want out

Out? Yes. Out. Not physically, just emotionally.

I’d never leave them. They’re my world, endlessly

I hate you today. I’ll hate you tomorrow.

I’ll love you later and beg for you on the morrow

I write when I feel somber.
