Demented

Broken shavers line the shelf

Skin is slashed

The words burn

You’ll never understand

You’ll never have your turn

Demented defined, “Mentally ill; insane”

There is nothing wrong with my brain

Broken shavers cover cold counters

My pills are downed

The world is sound

Because I am no longer crazy

Society and Slander wrack my brain

For I am the one who is labeled insane

Broken shavers line the shelf

For I am demented

Scars upon scars label my arms

Scars upon scars label my illness

Scars upon scars label me

My darkened eyes laid to rest

For I will never be the best

My illness says I am limited

But I will not be labelled

moderatelydemented

Poetry is a big part of my life. I struggle with mental illness, self-harm, and past suicide attempts. Poetry helps me vent my emotions out and many of my poems may be triggering and depressive.
