DEMISE

Her journey had been hard and long

But still she seemed very strong

When suddenly water came into view

And a distant shore across the blue

Whith one quick step into the boat

The current carried her afloat

Much further from shore as I watched

Through mist and fog it seemed rock

I called to her but couldn't tell

If she could hear me very well

She spoke to me but I couldn't hear

The distance was too great, I fear

Clouds closed in as I waved au-revoir

But over there the sun didn't shine

For gathered there upon that shore

Was Jesus and too many more

Welcoming her at journey's end

So until I cross the water's bend

I remember her with both smile and tears
