Demon

Today, I look out past the looming shade,

And this time, I find myself afraid

The horror lurking within this wretched place,

he decides to reveal his disfigured face.

I draw my sword and grab my shield off my back

to prepare myself for this inevitable attack,

The path of battle this time, I chose.

I'll fight, and win, against all foes

The demon's laugh shakes me to the bone,

yet the fear behind my eyes was never shown/

The feeling in my gut boils to the brim,

and my situations looks very grim/

The fight against him has begun,

I stay and fight like a knight, instead of turning to run.

The adrenaline in my veins feels ice cold,

but it was in this moment, I decide, I must be bold.

Taking inpiration from the poem Invictus by William Earnest Henry, I applied the idea of being a lone soldier to the ancient fairytale of Beowulf
