Demon Dog
As I lay sleeping in my bed, I know not what is ahead. I think I’m safe, safe in my bed, yet sleep is not safety, but danger instead. I’m caught by surprise when I wake to see his yellow eyes. The scruffy black figure standing on the floor though still closed remain the window and the door. How has he entered the room? This figure, this figure of doom. Yet not the how but the why is what I most fear, as there’s no questioning why the demon dog is here. The growling dog's teeth are dripping with blood, as every drop painfully resounds in my ears with a thud, thud, thud. He stands crouched in the corner ready to pounce. Some excuse for my sins I try to announce. Mercy! Salvation! I repent! I repent! Nothing I say seems to change his intent. Frozen in fear I prepare for my demise, for I know that I’m dead the moment I seee his yellow eyes.
