Demons Above

Roaring above the blooming trees

yells at the animals around him.

He hasn’t heard this sound before,

And he’s second guessing every step forward

As the birds chirp and fly away.

The noise gets louder and louder

And he crouches down covering his ears on the muddy grass;

He cannot hear himself breathe.

A large shadow casts itself on the grass

As he bends down low to escape the sound

Of blades cutting through the air.

Get out of my head!

Voices pierce his mind.

We have him!

Look, there he is!

He runs with his head down, until

He slips on the wet grass

And tumbles down a shallow ravine.

They cannot have me,

Those blasted demons.
