A Demon's Demise

I think it worked! At long last, a cure For that thing which lurked So cleverly demure Ever hiding, feasting, diving Into depths beneath the moor. That thing, which, when it rose, Aroused all hell to action, Despite his polite prose That flowed from lips of stirred-up passion – Beguiling human ears with ease With flaming tongue that aimed to please. A demon! – yes, this beast is true And easily controls both me and you Unless we surrender our brief commands To the One who holds us in the palm of His hands. When we surrender, as at last, all will, Nothing will stand against us or make us fall ill Or cause us to lose that which we gained When we declared, announced, proclaimed That Jesus is Lord of our lives, all complete And someday we all will kneel at His feet.
