Demons of the Present
Sadness envelopes me, shooting sharp bursts of darkness into my heart.
To go on through the day, acting like it's alright, fighting through the haze,
and consuming all that lays. Do you believe me when I say that I need a hand?
Can you bring me into the light, so that I might be free from this unsightly blight?
The demons of the darkness prod and poke,
I need to escape these ramshackled shackles, and walk out of the smoke.
Won't you lend me the key to my salvation?
So that I may escape these trials of temptation.
Will you be the one who puts a smile back on this foreign face,
the face that used to belong to a little girl.
A girl who thought she could become anything,
a girl who thought she could overcome everything.
Her dreams have been long crushed beyond the point of returning.
Or is there yet a tiny seed that's been forgotten and condemned.
Waiting for the opportunity to grow and flourish,
in the richness of the holy ground you once so closely befriended.
Where's her hope when all seems lost?
It was there a moment ago, but now is not.
It seems to me that it's reoccurrence comes at a costly price.
So what will I do in the times of corruption, when all is not so nice.
