Denying Our Nature
Crisp, clean breeze blowing the smell of cherry blossom trees through the air. Moss covering the Earth as if to hide its beautiful, bountiful secrets. Arching trees, flowing leaves, and roots rising from the ground. The roots making hills, doorways, pathways, and bridges. Covered in vines, seemingly inviting one to explore Why not enter the lush forbidden forest, why not venture into a place of secrets and whispers, where wings flutter and creatures titter. Who is to stop the curious little girl or the adventurous young son? The groaning bark, the resisting branches saying "No, I am pure. Why do you wish to hide and play and peek and seek? What calls you to my forbidden crevices, my hidden caves, and stretching branches? Why do you wish to frolic, swing, and soar? Cannot I remain as I am? Solid and mysterious, whole and alone. What makes you want to explore, what makes you want to pick my flowers? Why, why, why cannot you understand? I have nature in my branches, in my hands. I have Earth in my roots, in my feet. You no longer know what that is, you are no longer mine. You traveled far, and you did not return. You have rejected me and what I am. Why should I accept your lies and let you in? Is it not enough that I give while you take, that I did not ask for more? I have given nearly all that I am, I refuse to give you everything. Because, you see, one day you will come back and you will know, I am what you need. that little kernel I kept from you, then and only then shall you receive it again.
