De/ODE/rant for America

Wake me from the dream

That life is all it seems-

That I deserve comfort-

Because any place you insert

Inside the blank space here: _______,

Will never shed a tear

Though they own a patch of dust

While you consume away in lust

Over things they'd not imagine.

They understand true passion.

And you think the movies

Describe enough to move me.

Out there, they know love.

When all they have comes from above,

How can they not rely on their Lord?

While good lectures make you bored,

They'd give anything to go to school,

When, in it, you sit and drool.

You have made yourself a god,

Then wondered why they think you're odd.
