Depression
When I looked at you,
You appeared as a gentle, "Loving
Person.
First impressions were
Important to me, and you
Made it so easy to be comfortable.
The conversations weren't forced, I was
So joyful and safe with you.
You knew all my secrets and made
Me unashamed of them. To you, the
Past didn't seem to matter.
But soon, things changed. You never
Seemed interested or supportive. most
Of all, you were unhappy.
You face didn't light up, Your exquisite
Eyes were now empty.
The secrets we once shared no longer
Brought us together. You would form
your sentences with carelessness.
I noticed more bruises and dried blood. of
Course I was worried. But I was too
afraid to approach you.
Instead, I gave you the space I thought
You needed. & God, I prayed that one
Day you would realize your own self
Worth.
The days grew longer without you.
I, as well, became empty. There was no
Beauty left in the world,
Everywhere I looked I saw destruction."
Because in my world,
You held everything together.
