Depression
Depression causes its victims to live in fear
They hide their pain without shedding a tear
It tears and it cuts on the inside and out
Filling their minds with all this self doubt
They block out the world and live in a little black box
Waiting for some kind of help to come and knock
It knocks and it knocks but they won't let it in
They think it's too late and throw it in an empty trash bin
We need to show we care before they use the knife
The gun, the pills, could end someone's life.
It's like an addiction that won't go away
They don't understand the price they'll have to pay
It strangles and suffocates them like a fish out of water
And people will say what happened to your perfect daughter
It could have been your son though and you still wouldn't have seen it coming
Or maybe your best friend and you would see their life crumbling
They look like you and I, they're living all around us
They may be even sitting right there on your school bus
Every day they put it off but it's only getting worse
We're blinded by our ignorance, and what may happen we can't reverse
No matter who it is and how ever much you love them
Depressions really serious so don't think about what could have been
Think about how to help you may even save a life
Doing this can save everybody a lot of strife
Every day we want more but we don't know how good we've got it
There are people out there with bigger problems but we're too busy to spot it
Be the solution and lead them to a better way
Open their eyes to a brand new day
