Depression
My depression is like a house with the doors locked from the outside. I try to escape through the windows. I can't escape.
Depression plays tricks on me. It allows people into my life to make me happy, then it takes them away like a bully takes lunch money from a little kid.
Instead of me hammering a nail, the nail is hammering me.
My pillows are familiar with the touch of my tears. My phone is full of people asking me if I am okay.
I tell everyone the same thing: "I'm fine. Don't worry about me. I'll be okay". Then they leave me, I guess satisfied with my answer.
Then I'm sitting in the dark alone, because everyone has left me, leaving me with no light to see.
My depression makes me feel like I'm walking down a dark alley with people surrounding me, trying to mug me and take everything I own. People always ask me, "Why are you so depressed all the time? You're never happy"
What I think is: 'Well, if you took the time to actually talk to me and actually listen, you would know.'
What I actually say is: "I don't know, and if I did, I would tell you."
My depression makes me feel like I'm being suffocated to the point I can't breathe anymore.
Tears are constantly rolling down my face, wetting my cheeks.
I want to cry anywhere and everywhere. But I don't want people staring, or asking if I am okay.
My depression mocks me. It brings back things I don't want to think about.
It put blades on my skin and bad thoughts in my head. I've cried for help, but it's like no one can see or hear my cries.
Depression puts a sleeping cloud over me, making me sleep all the time.
Whenever I wake, it tells me not to worry about anything and go to back to sleep.
It's like depression has kidnapped me, but no one has noticed I'm gone. No one had put up any missing person signs.
My depression is like 20 Questions, Only I'm the one asking the questions.
"Why are you doing this to me?" "Why are you here, ruining my life, and chances of being happy?"
My depression is like a snake swallowing a mouse whole,
It makes me feel like I'm a deer or a bear that has been hunted, shot, and mounted on a wall in Depression's living room.
It's always making me notice my flaws more and more.
Forcing me to believe that no one likes me because I'm fat, or not one likes me because I'm not pretty,
Or even the fact that no guys would ever date me because I'm not pretty enough, or skinny enough, or athletic, or full of themselves.
My depression makes me feel like Shrek--ugly, unwanted, hunted... I'm just a Shrek waiting for my Fiona.
Or a Cinderella who can't go to the ball because she's told she isn't wanted.
Or a Sleeping Beauty put to sleep, to be woken by 'True Love's Kiss', only I'm no beauty.
My depression has made my soul dark, and my heart cold. Depression is a very bad disease, that I cannot find a cure for.
