Depression

Isaiah 54:6     New English Translation

6 “Indeed, the Lord will call you back

like a wife who has been abandoned and suffers from depression,

like a young wife when she has been rejected,” says your God.

Depression

When depressed, can I, as I travel through the night,

through faith hang on until joy comes in the morning?

For the life of faith or that of the will, if right,

are then fully intertwined with God’s in our mourning

When I am broken down, is my life growing and maturing?

When I am asleep am I then really living?

For only then I am delivered from all my emotions

Where my feelings are ignored and flesh can’t be forgiving

When I awake and nothing seems really there

When I stare into the darkness deep in the night

I don’t feel much of anything until memories then trigger

The way I’m supposed to will and do things that appear right

Is that the very moment that my feelings take control?

Is that where responsibilities get shoved into a corner?

Is that when duty calls and principles are defined?

Where one prepares for battle and already divides the spoil?
