Depression

The disease of emotion, a lack thereof.

Relentless, all consuming; the whisper in your ear.

"Listen to me, to me!" The murk knows best;

the bleach of passion, the dilution of fervor.

Motivation lacking, numbness frightening;

wanting to be alone, the thorn in their side.

Scared of the night, the demons rise;

like a rising tide, threatening to swallow your mind.

A soothing thought; an end to the apathy, the thorn is no more.
