Depression

Depression is like a prison
Keeping you frozen while the people you love move forward
And there’s nothing you can do
You try to join them
But the whispers in your mind grow so loud
That even as you clutch your ears to block out the noise
It bangs inside your head
Because its not a sound
Its the thoughts in your head
They whisper the most horrible things to you
Every time you take a step further
Sometimes they’ll stay quiet and make you feel like you’ve gotten
Out of their wicked grasps
But when you think you’re fine
The whispers come back
“You’re not good enough”
“You’ll never be happy”
And all you can do is drown
Because the voices in your head will scream at you when you reach out
And try to get help
And you are left to suffer in silence
Putting on a smile
When on the inside
You feel like ripping away your skin
Because you don’t want to be you
And you just think
That if you were to just end it all
Everything will be alright again
