Depression and Obsession
Dear Depression,
You have consumed me like an everlasting fire, unable to extinguish.
Some days, your flames protruded limitlessly into the night sky.
On these days, was I most vulnerable.
I tried to keep it together.
So much to where I could feel myself growing tired,
Exhausted in my own body.
Hating myself because you engulfed me,
And becoming engulfed in you because I hated myself.
I wanted to talk about it all,
But it seemed that everytime I tried I collected sarcastic stares that implied I was overreacting.
Then you began to make me think that I really was.
It was strange how it made me feel.
Like I was egocentric for thinking so much about myself,
But in doing so, I was frustrated with the thought of my being.
My mind was lodged in a paradoxical loop, centered around you.
It still is.
