Depression is beautiful
Running away from fear and unwanted pain.
Trying to stay alive but death is all I gain.
I hear the demons speaking upon me like i'm a pawn to their game.
I'm trying to change my world but everything stays the same.
The emptiness and darkness fills my mind,
and no matter how hard I try I just can't rewind.
My mother always told me just listen for a sign,
but there's no signs just lies.
Nobody every told me depression is beautiful.
People today run away from the pain instead of facing it so their beauty can remain.
Who ever said being sad is ugly?
Crying myself to sleep wishing I was pretty.
Always feeling like i'm the only one depressed in my city.
Fighting for my right to have dignity.
I used to drag my feet along feeling lonely like nobody could see me.
I realized beauty doesn't lie in the eye of the beholder,
it lies in the strength of your shoulders,
it lies in the pain in your back,
the weakness in your knees,
the confusion in your mind,
because dealing with all this your body still remains.
So beauty is strength therefore, depression is beautiful.
I thank the tears i had to cry because I found freedom.
I thank the cuts on my skin because it shows my strength.
I thank the long nights of racing thoughts because it taught me determination.
I thank depression because it made me who I am.
