The depth of Emotion

Ecclesiastes 11:10 New English Translation (NET Bible)

¹⁰ Banish emotional stress from your mind,
and put away pain from your body;
for youth and the prime of life are fleeting.

Let it be from the depth of the heart.

The depth of emotion reaches out for understanding,

but like the deepest ocean, it is hardly understood at best

The altar of devotion that we are regularly attending

as we search for a potion to soothe and heal our nest.

The feelings that rule us and seem to guide our path

and make us oft the fool as we wander on through life.

It appears that in this, it penetrates and expands wrath

as dissatisfaction besets us and so instigates much strife.

How about genuine emotion? Is it not a treasure?

Guided by the Lord on the foundation of His compassion

The charity in devotion that now only God can measure

as we live God’s word with emphasis, loving our mission.
