DEREALITY

Chipped nails on my hands and feet,

any habits left to break,

euphorically unaware.

I know not the difference between the truth and a lie.

Counting each line, each atom

palms facing up, my own antagonist.

Does it ever change, or a lie?

Do we remain like this?

Only, you and I are alone.

Unable to move on, unable to breathe.

ponder, not too much,

afraid of the prying crows.

Do they watch as I weaken, tremble,

my thoughts being no longer my own.

I only wish to be the trunk of a poor maple tree,

alone in my own bearings.

Questioning everything, everyone,

one soul not the same but chained differently.

Can you hear it?

Do you perceive it?
