Dereliction
Here I give you the sap of a feeling
With irascible rebelliousness bristling
Written with caustic and scrupulous care
Enough to make you think, perhaps dare.
You have to know: I’m not here to please you
But give you a hint of what might concern you
A question: Were I asked if man were slave,
Otherwise no governmental way shall pave.
Silly to entitle what does not deserve a title
Drama invented to befit drama: I cackle!
Futile and Superficial: unconcerned at all!
What about karma, sparse education and all
Strenuous vexation: Dangerous men of action
Intensive treatment for so tenacious a faction.
Ingratiating slaves: I have low opinion of
To toil, execute in a background voice-off
Arrogation of power: advocates of fixity!
Servants of venality, royalty and laxity
Power growing: happy and ingratiating
I make mock of it: You get nothing!
My indignation would further fill the page
Shakespeare would say: stupidity on stage
A humorous creation aping the serious
A self-created prison: cold and curious
Like football. You have created a ball
Running after it: pride, renown and all
An easy breezy no: It rises not to my level
Thoreau was right: stubborn and implacable
I advocate the devil? Not into palliatives
Flinty character: I said no sedatives!
Darts of antagonism I am proud of
Instructions: I take no part of!
