Derick

Dear Derick,

You left me in pieces.

Every day I wake up with a dull pain in my heart,

Every night I wake up from the pulsating wound you left behind.

Although it hurts, sometimes I allow myself to remember you.

The magical sound of your laugh, the way you held me, the devilishly handsome smile.

The way you made my soul shine in a way no one else ever could.

Although it was all a lie, for the moment my heart felt full.

And it was the last time I knew pure happiness.

If I never see you again, I’d be okay with it because

At least I can die one day knowing my soulmate exists.

And I hope you find yours even though it may not be me.

It’s pitiful, yes, how I seem to always come back to you in my mind

But the tears and heartache consume me, while you hold someone else at night.
