Descend
I sit and watch as happiness, everywhere, runs around me.
So close I can smell it's sweet aroma in the breeze as it blows by.
Looking down, tears begin to well up in my eyes.
They spill on to the floor and happiness looks at me,
with a sinister grind and laughs.
I stand and look it dead in the eye,
water still running down my face,
stinging with sadness.
I reach out towards it with a desperate tremble in my hand and it fades,
revealing a window behind were it once stood.
Approaching the door with slow, heavy steps,
breathing slow, shallow breathes.
I sit on the ledge, watching,
as the world turns dark,
my blood runs cold and my heart pounding like thunder is the only thing I hear.
Looking down I see no end, just darkness.
But I am not afraid, the shadows aren't frightening but mysterious and inviting.
As if the hollowed blackness would swallow all my pain, all my suffering and my torment.
Everything that plagued me, gone.
So into the pit, with one last gasp, I descend.
