Descent

Soaring above the clouds Unconstrained by fetter of gravity On metallic wings Unto eternity Like Phaëton in his chariot On the currents of the wind Breaking the clouds Escaping chains that bind. But when night descends, We crash into the wall We just cannot break through With no one to catch us as we fall. Burn the last drop, Give in to despair Realizing we are broken, As we stall in midair. The plummet takes but a second Compared to years for us to rise: We plunge into shallow waters, Scatter silver to dark skies.
