The Desert

Sometimes

You feel empty

And it is as dry as the desert inside of you.

You see, the desert, as vast and beautiful as it is,

Can quickly become too hot and thirsty and dry for comfort.

The sun, with all of its blazing brilliance,

Can blind and scorch you if you face its rays for too long

And as mesmerizing as waves of golden sand are,

You long for the coolness of blue-

You crave an actual ocean.

So God, the Most Merciful, sends down rain.

Sometimes, it comes in a gentle, steady drizzle;

Sometimes, it comes with a clap of thunder and a downpour;

Either way, it rains

And the desert comes alive.
