Desert

My time with you I won't forget

The pain, the tears, the hardship

You gave me focus, direction and community

You provided me opportunity

Your winds and heat were mean

Your climate is alien

I never intended to spend time with you

But now you aren't so foreign and new

I hope to not see you again

For I do not care to build an empire of contradiction
