Desert Rain

The Heavens opened up and the skies ceased to be blue

The replacement was a sheet of grey, a beautiful sight to behold

I looked up into the clouds as droplets of water fell onto my face

It hadn’t rained in months, and now it was pouring

I let it soak my clothes as I stretched my arms out and looked up at the sky

The world seemed so beautiful when the bits of dark hidden inside showed themselves

Made it feel almost humanlike

Then lightning struck.

I don’t know where but it was close enough that I could seeit

The thin yet potent rays frayed off the main shaft as it crashed into the earth

Less than a second later the roar of the thunder made its presence known
