Deserted Island

I cannot go on staring into the ocean

My rabbit sits on my lap, I pet her with repeated motion

I adore her because she simply sits

I have to be strong as she is since I am alone

I envy her, although reluctantly, I will admit

My black rabbit came with me

Optimism; I whisper to set my spirit free

I will call to it but it does not answer so I wish to feel nothing

When I do, she leaves

Now depression sits on my lap

The ocean recedes
