Desired Rights

They waited for the vote They waited for the rights All they could do was Do anything they desired One sat on a bus And others boycotted a bus This is what they desired And so it happened Another preached words of longing And others followed those words This is what they desired And so it happened Some went to white schools And they were brave to do so This is what they desired And so it happened. Those students at the school Got help from the president This is what they desired And so it happened It was not about violence It was about the rights This is what they desired And so it happened All they wanted was there rights They fought for them too This is what they desired And so it happened They did what they had to do To get some light on the situation This is what they desired And so it happened They came through in the end And did not give up This is what they desired And so it happened. They fought for their rights And so it happened They got the rights They fought hard for.
