Desolate
Dear dad,
I remember the time you told me you would wind up my music box
But I stayed up waiting for you all night long.
That wasn’t the first time you had left me heartbroken and waiting
I can still smell the alcohol on your breathe,
And I can feel the anger in your heart.
I saw the sadness in your eyes but I could never comprehend why.
Didn’t you love me dad? I know I loved you.
I emphasize on the word loved because I no longer waste it on you.
Abandoned and broken from such a young age.
You still occupy my mind.
While I know I’m long gone from yours.
Didn’t you love me dad?
