Desperate Plight

If you thought you didn’t matter,

Why did you not say?

If you knew that you could,

Why did you not stay?

You say, “Say I did well,”

But I don’t want to let you go.

It is just so hard to know

that I will never see you grow old.

If you left,

Then why should I stay?

I have fought so hard

to find my way.

You threw away the sanctity of human life

right before my weeping eyes.

I suppose I should have known

that it wasn’t really a huge surprise.

Later I found out

that you cried every night.

I wish I would have known

so I could have taken a flight

to save you from your desperate plight.
