Desperation

I live my life inside a box of glass; I hide my soul behind the tinted panes. I walk with care and let adventure pass, To keep my heart from feeling any pain. Behind the glass my heart lurks out of sight, Behind those tinted panes - above, below. It keeps my fragile feelings locked up tight; Unless I break the box, how will I grow? Inside this brittle box lie worlds of dreams, Ambitions, goals, and fantasies unfulfilled, With hopes which fall apart despite my schemes. Those shattered hopes, impossible to rebuild. Destroy this box which causes me such strife So I may spread my wings and enjoy life!
