Destination
Staring down at the writhing sea,
Waves of trepidation, uncertainty crash upon me,
Like the cliffs below, weathered is my spirit,
The voice of reason, I can no longer hear it,
Churning within me is a war,
Demons attack, no longer dormant as before.
The heat of the sun can not give way,
Permafrost encases this inner decay,
The depths call to me, a beckoning hand,
Voices of nymphs, urging me to abandon land,
And while their offer sounds so sweet,
Even a broken spirit will not concede defeat.
Be it the sun, the waves, the salty breeze,
Something breaches the darkness in me,
A spiritual rope falls into my grasp,
Grabbing it, my soul shall bask,
The beauty, serenity of ethereal joy,
Words alone can not employ.
An unworldly hand touches my heart,
Being perhaps what sets me apart,
The demons disperse with one touch,
The darkness I felt, no longer too much,
Turning my eyes once more to the sea,
Only now am I struck with its beauty.
Stepping from the edge in wonder,
To this day I still ponder,
There I return when my spirit is restless,
Remembering that my life is priceless,
Too good to be wasted with a simple leap,
A touched heart is mine to keep.
