Destiny Beckoned

Destiny beckoned I answered the call Leaving one evening Late in the fall All night I traveled Though not knowing where Hoping to find My future out there Days became weeks Months became years And slowly I started To conjure up fears Destiny beckoned I answered the call But nay came a whisper Of where I should fall Worn down and bent I fell to my knees Releasing vast tears In the soft gentle breeze "Long I've been gone I'm weary and worn I've traveled so far But for this I do mourn Destiny beckoned I heeded the call But nay came an answer To where I should fall I soon shall go down In the earth I have strode Releasing the cause For which I was told Just one thing I wish Before I lay down What be the destiny I never found? A voice then came softly Whispering near "Destiny beckoned You answered the call But great reward hidden Ne'er there at all Your destiny, child Was not at the end T'was the long winding path O'er now you do bend The lessons you learned The deeds you have done That was your destiny You've already won" Destiny beckons You answer the call What you make of your life Is the reward above all
