detergent
u kept me clean
clean like ur clothes
cause they smelled like strong detergent
I still have ur shirt
it doesn't smell like u anymore
but thats ok cause it'd be creepy anyways
what do you look like?
I can't remember ur face
just that strong smell
of detergent
as if the only way I remember u
is the way u dressed
blacks and blues and greys
and that single curl on ur forehead
u are just a faceless figure in my memory
what did u look like again?
how did ur voice sound again?
u probably remember me
not for my face
or how I looked
or how I smelled
but how I used u and emotionally drained u
and robbed u of so much time
only to push u further away at the end
so I guess this is an apology
because u will never remember me
for my cheap perfume and sweatshirts
or my dead blonde hair
or our hugs and all the talks we shared
but for everything I forced u to hear.
u've probably used the same detergent
to scrub away ur memories of me
so maybe it's alright
that I only remember the detergent
because it's what you'll remember me by now too.
