Determined

You who knew

I knew I had it in me

To care for and become

Just strong enough

To be with the earth

The air and the sky

At the same time.

Why the earth

Because it is tilled and watered,

Nestled in it are my roots.

The air that flits about

Is that I breathe,

It gives me life, fire and the will to live,

And the sky is the extent

Of my aspirations and reach,

I had realized this fact long ago

As many have done in the past

And many still do.

Fear is not the key for me,

It cannot hold sway over me.

I shall fight the odds,

I will not allow

My patience to wear out.
