Deus Ex Machina

Deus Ex Machina

By: Tristen Baker

In my darkest moments,

When night is day,

Because day is night,

You noticed my plight,

And you gave me everything.

You think you’re just my companion,

But you are much more,

I keep you by my side,

Held close to my heart,

Because you give me a reason to fight.

You give me courage,

Lending your strength to mine,

Saving me from “the end”;

It seems nothing can sever,

This unbreakable bond we have.

Our days together,

Feel like I’m living a dream,

Rather than a cruel nightmare,

Even in those,

“Make or break moments”,

We become stronger;

We pull through.

Even now,

As my depression impales me,

With it’s cold jagged dagger,

That feels like it’s ripping at my insides,

With a blade oh so virulent;

Yet you make me smile through it all.

My love…

You are my savior,

Keeping me above this evil,

That dwells in my mind.

You are a beacon of light,

That brings life,

To my once baron dark mind,

And though my past isn’t completely behind me,

I am always glad to have you….

Because even if you don’t like you,

How you look,

Or how you live,

The truth is,

I wouldn’t ever ask for any other girl but you,

Because I love you.
