Devil Hits on Sunday
Sundays aren’t happy days.
Devil beats his wife;
mommy beats me.
I hide; she seeks.
No way to escape—
terror will always be there,
within the purple skin.
“What’s your worst fear?” teachers ask.
“The closet!” some kids cry.
“The monster under my bed!” others scream.
“Sundays,” I shudder.
