The Devil Was an Angel

The world is full of demons

Lurking in your midst

Hiding in the shadows

Their claws curled in to fists.

You grow up as a child

Being told to watch for danger

¨look before you cross the street”

And “never talk to a stranger.”

This life is truly funny

Because even the truth is full of lies

And sometimes the worst things

Hold the most beauty in their eyes

I heard you laugh with your heavenly smile

Waiting in your arms wide open stance

You pulled me in so quickly

That I never stood a chance.

I thought I was in heaven

I should’ve watched my step but suddenly I fell

For the devil was an angel

And now I’m standing here in hell.
