Devotion

I gave you my passion

My whole heart and soul

Because I loved you

I was there for you

In your most trying times

Because I loved you

I forgave you time after time

And believed your apology

Because I loved you

I said goodbye to my friends

And pushed them aside

Because I loved you

I ignored the other girls

And pushed the feelings down

Because I loved you

I stayed through so much

Cheating, lying, and abuse

Because I loved you

I believed you when you said

I was worthless

Because I loved you

I let you walk all over me

Crushing my heart with every step

Because I loved you

I touched you

And set aside my discomfort

Because I loved you

I let you yell

Scream and torment me

Because I loved you

I fell on my knees

And did what you asked

Because I loved you

I let you throw punches

I just sat there aghast

Because I loved you

I lied to my family

About the bruises and marks

Because I loved you

I had given up on myself

And all of my dreams

Because I loved you

I changed who I was

Into who you wanted me to be

Because I loved you

But then I left you

Why?

Because I love the real me
