Dharmas Friend

What does it mean to love? This question has haunted me for nearly 30 years. I've seen and experienced what others believe is love but after all these years I'm not sure there is a word in the English language that can entirely describe this feeling. The Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu was quoted as saying "Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.".

Having mentioned the profound Tzu I would be amiss not to mention the Jewish American writer's beautifully put description of love "Love is the irresistable desire to be desired irresistibly.". To me, this sits a bit closer to home. As I seem to want to only be wanted by the one who makes me want to be seen. Oh, the codependency of it all! The absurdity is that we could even completely understand this feeling of what we call "Love".

Love is as Nicholas Sparks stated" Love is like the wind..." Over the millennia humans have attempted to describe this internal struggle to be needed in the course of finding true love. The more time I spend in contemplation of the conflicting at times question of "What do I want and is what I want and need the same or are they in conflict with each other for the span of this lifetime?

Needing to be validated by another living person in life is instrumental for the growth of the human experience. Although validation is not something I have ever truly believed I needed until I did. The type of validation I am seeking is something I only think I can award to myself. Seeking it outside of myself has led to the destruction of so many personal relationships in my life. People are prone to believing we can jump into another's experience and this notion tends to lead to bad advice and hurt feelings.

Where do I begin and you end
Am I confused or determined
One decision One choice
Decades amiss

The shine of your earthly presence
all anew yet so familiar
What consumes your thoughts
Is it me

Needing validation though I shake
Buyers remorse or is it fate
Half a life spent despairingly

Hopeful it's not all for no
Do I want you as much as I need you
This is it Cant be another
Erasing Dharma in a single experience
The Best is yours

Will you accept?
