Diamond in the Rough

I dreamt I was walking down a dusty road.
My feet kicking tiny rocks.
I looked up and watched the sky turn green.
A sorcerer’s handiwork.

A lone Iris caught my eye
It’s fragile petals begging for rescue.
A damsel in distress.

I took refuge in an empty church.
The floors were sticky and the pews were rotting.
A town drowned in sin.
I planted the tiny flower in the church graveyard.
The ground exhaled as her fragile roots graced the soil.
A sight to behold.

I kept on walking down the abandoned road.
My feet kicking up the bone white dust.
I squinted my eyes and watched the sun melt into the horizon.
The world appeared soaked in a rainbow wash slowly fading to shades of blue
A kaleidoscope in nature.
A breeding ground for fascination.
A diamond in the rough.
