From Diaper to Diaper

Have you ever come to the realization that the day you're born and begin living

is the same day that you begin aging and dying?

During my lifetime I've learned that many people are characterized by things.

Funny how life gives us our own wings.

From infancy until adulthood we search desperately to find

people or that special person with features of our  kind.

During our adolescence, we call it being on our own grind

Until we get older and realize that our life expectancy clock has begun to wind, down.

We weren't born to impress people, social networks were.

Attention based lifestyles, quotes and memes are no cure.

As an African American male, I was told I'd have to work ten times harder

Faced with unforeseen circumstances and influence, staying geared up with armor.

Faced with wants, needs, and a specific desire

My energy levels tend to fluctuate like a blasting furnace of fire

Sometimes down to a simple flickering flame

An ego disrupted by the friends who consider you lame.

Live your own life, or someone else will.

The hottest part of you sits on your neck right between your ears

Life can be a challenge, but never a fear.
