Did You Even Know?
My heart races
And burns for a love
That you never gave.
That you never wanted.
Did you even know the real me?
I trusted you with my secrets
I gave you my heart,
My life.
The days I spent
Tormented by thoughts of you,
That you never gave me,
That you never wanted.
Did you even know the real me?
The years I spent
I invested my life in you
I bet my heart on you.
I let you have me;
You could have called me yours.
But you didn’t do the same,
You didn’t want it.
You didn’t want me.
You gave me memories
That you’ll never keep,
You gave me hope
That you took back when you left,
You gave me love;
All the feelings, the songs, the pain
You gave it all.
But never returned it.
Did you even know the real me?
It was a one-sided affair,
A blinded vision.
But that’s all it ever was,
Wasn’t it?
You didn’t want it.
You didn’t want me.
You were in it for the show,
The glamour.
To say that you had me in your grasp.
But you didn’t care.
You never cared.
